Throwing It Away

I have been up for almost five hours now and it is now 6 a.m.  Bed bugs can cause insomnia!  When you don't get the proper sleep, it can also cause depression!  I found this article online this morning.

"The management of these insect pests in urban environments costs billions of dollars annually and typically requires the use of large quantities of pesticides/insecticides."

Looking at how bed bugs drain you financially.  So far we have spent $660, this includes bed bug covers for four beds, two bed bug pillow case covers, two cans of Bedlam Bed Bug Insecticide, and five bed bug treatments (one of which still in the future).  This amount does not include the utility bills, which are far above our usage due to drying clean clothes, washing clothes hot and washing more than normal.  Also it doesn't include the wonderful donation of a Better Than a Box Spring to replace our box spring mattress and a bed bug mattress cover.  We still need to get one more mattress cover for our guest bed.

"Some people are allergic to bedbugs bites, which they often experience itching leading to the formation of urticaria-like dermatitis, which favors secondary infections of skin disorder also result in anxiety, insomnia or worsening of an existing mental health condition. Travelers advise to be on an especially alert to the tell tale signs bites, blood on the bed sheets and their droppings that look like pepper."

Mikaela had a bug bite the size of a nickel and now it is a five times the size, so I'm thinking she is allergic.  The area is swollen and feels warm when you touch it.  I don't know for sure if it is a bed bug bite, but what else could it be?  Steven thought possibly a spider bite, but all other bugs that have been in our home are dead after all the chemicals that have been sprayed.

Do you only have to be worried about them when you visit a hotel?  Where are these annoying pests found?  If you think you need to stay away from used clothing places, think again!  They have been found in stores that carry new items.

"Bed bugs are found anywhere on trains, buses, in movie theaters, hospitals, airplanes, couches and be transported even via the sole of a shoe.  Experts recommend looking for them with a bright flashlight."

Monday we are throwing more away!  We are getting rid of the girls bunk bed, stair drawers, and our headboard.  We also got rid of the rabbits at the Humane Society today, so please keep the girls in your prayers.  This was a hard thing to do after watching them take really good care of them.  I don't have time to take care of them by cleaning their cage and now we have a neighbor that moved in with a dog, so we can't let them have exercise in the backyard it makes the decision a little easier.

Tuesday we have another bed bug treatment, which isn't the fifth treatment.  I had to schedule this one, which should be free since we aren't noticing much of a difference after the fourth treatment.  God please help us to get rid of this problem!  Thank you for using others to help us!
