Friday, we planned to go camping. We drove 45 minutes to one camping spot only to find all the camping spots filled. We told the girls that we probably weren't going camping, but we would try another campground. So we left that mountain and drove across the Salt Lake Valley to another mountain range two hours away. Not knowing if the campground was still closed, we attempted it anyway. By the time we reached our destination around 7 p.m., we found that it was open but all the camping spots taken. Bummer, all that time on the road and the girls excited about the idea of camping. Steven went walking down the road as we were stopped near the bathrooms, and found a camping spot. The people in it were just leaving! When we got there, Elyssa said something to the effect that she had prayed for a camping spot. God taught me a lesson through this, Steven and I were trying to make the trip happen in our strength not His. Not once did Steven and I pray. It was amazing to see God answer Elyssa! By having people leave their camping spot at 7 that night, so we could camp.
We wanted to get away before Steven's surgery. We were able to borrow camping equipment to make it a low budget get away. It was a blessing to spend time as a family in God's creation. We saw four deer 20 ft. away, walking by our camp. Sorry, no pictures! I was walking slowly to the van to get the camera, when a toddler spotted them and got really excited. Oh well! Seeing the girls excitement was wonderful enough. Mikaela named the young buck, Chocolate. Then Mikaela exclaims, "Deer are my FAVORITE animal." I wasn't able to sleep for awhile and was listening to deer a few inches away from our tent, having a midnight snack. Kind of scary and exciting all at the same time.
God thank you for the time we spent enjoying your creation. We so needed the peace and rest from the stress that seems to be over our house. Thank you for giving Steven the strength to hike. Praying for continued healing in his hands and feet. Please keep Steven uplifted in prayer! Being in this valley, he hasn't heard from God in a long while and is really growing weary.
Hope you enjoy this video of Steven and Taliah! As you can tell they had a lot of fun.
