Blood Work and Blessings!

Monday, we found out that Steven's blood showed that he is at therapeutic level.  So that is a good sign that the medicine is taking affect to break up the blood clot and he won't be needing the bed bugs to work on the back of his knee (see the last post to gain more understanding).  He will have another appointment on Monday to check his blood again.  He isn't taking the shots anymore, just the pill form.

Steven's hair is starting to grow, which is wonderful since he is tired of being bald.  Right now the top of his head, nose, eyebrow, eyelashes and facial hair are slowly growing in.  His hair on his upper lip has changed to a dark color and seems like it is the fastest growing hair.  It will be interested to see if his hair does change color.  Some cancer patients describe their hair changing color after chemo.

Tomorrow the top surgeons at the Huntsman Cancer Institute meet to discuss the different tumors and the surgeries that will take place.  Steven's surgery is one that will be discussed tomorrow and we should hear by the end of the week, when it will be scheduled.

We took last week off from school and started again this week.  It is always an adjustment for the girls, when we start back.  We have finished some subjects , but Elyssa still has four subjects and Mikaela has one left to complete.  Praying we can be done soon and can start our summer vacation!

More blessings pour down!  We had to throw away our box springs, due to the bed bugs that started to infest that mattress.  As you can see from the picture below, how they were starting to find a comfortable spot.  They were also along the metal frame.  Steven would have had a hard time after his surgery getting off our mattress that was now on the floor.  We received a special frame to put our other mattress on.  Which is a wonderful blessing.  It is called Better Than a Box Spring, and it is.  Our headboard is another spot they just love.

Bed bugs lie in wait of their next meal.

We moved our headboard so it is easier for the exterminator to reach next time.  We bought a chemical, so we were armed with it in case we found more bedbugs in between treatments.  The exterminator had sprayed our headboard, but I didn't know how well he was able to get it.  So I sprayed all the cracks and the places I found eggs.  I also found a bed bug that was still living on the headboard, which we put into our specimen jar.  Steven got to add heat to the jar to see how long it took to die.

When we moved the headboard I noticed bed bugs on the carpet near the base board and this is even after I vacuumed this area a couple weeks ago.  I took out the chemical and also sprayed this area.  Most of the bugs were dead, but finding a live bed bug was able to spray it and saw that it died quickly.  

This is not a fun challenge, but I continue to try to have the best attitude about it.  I have been joking around with regards to the bed bugs, in the blog posts.  I also see blessings that God is working in this situation.  Steven is having a really hard time with this bed bug issue.  He used to love to come home after work and get away from the stresses of life.  This home was a haven to him and now it has become stressful place to be.  Please uplift Steven in prayer!
